Actinic Keratoses
Actinic keratoses are pre-cancerous lesions that have a low risk of developing into skin cancer. Studies show that the likelihood of an individual actinic keratosis evolving into squamous cell carcinoma is <1% per year. While the risk is low for a solitary lesion, it becomes more significant when several lesions are present.
Actinic keratoses most often present on sun-exposed areas as rough bumps or patches. Treatment options include topical medications, cryotherapy, photodynamic therapy, and/or oral medications.
